Stephen T Smith, MD

Partner

Dr. Stephen Smith is a vascular surgeon with Cardiovascular Consultants, Ltd. in Scottsdale. Dr. Smith is board certified in vascular surgery and has advanced training in endovascular and minimally invasive vascular surgery.

Dr. Smith has had a special interest in the development of the outpatient vascular lab “movement” since 2007. He has been involved in the ground-up development of multiple hybrid OR rooms in the hospital and outpatient environment. He currently leads the vascular team at Arizona Cardiovascular Institute.

After the developing and managing the latest outpatient lab/Ambulatory Surgery Center combination, it became clear that a well defined management structure for this type of entity does not exist where the practicing physician maintains control of their own center. This is the driving force in his participation with NCM. Dr. Smith and the other NCM partners are able to use their management infrastructure to help other centers reach their operational and financial goals.

Dr. Smith received his undergraduate business degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1992. He worked in the pharmaceutical industry prior to pursuing medical training. After receiving his medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas in 2001, Dr. Smith completed his general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship at UT Southwestern and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, TX. Following the completion of his training, he was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at UT Southwestern and the Chief of Vascular Surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital. Dr. Smith moved to establish practice in Arizona in November, 2009.

Andy H. T. Tran, MD

Partner

Dr. Andy Tran is a Cardiac Electrophysiologist with Cardiovascular Consultants, Ltd. in Scottsdale. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiac Electrophysiology. He completed his Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI.

Dr. Tran leads educational programs for Cardiac Rhythm Devices and Complex Cardiac ablations. He specializes in establishment and development of Electrophysiology Services.

Dr. Tran led the development of a billing and coding team for both Arizona Cardiovascular Institute and Cardiovascular Research and Education. The need for creating this was realized after several top companies demonstrated a complete lack of competence and knowledge in billing for outpatient cardiovascular services in the POS11/ASC environment. This service can be outsourced to provide our partner facilities access to this expertise.
